Performance Art Saturday: RISK
Fake is fabulous inc.: NAUSEA
Dealing with even the slightest notion of nausea when reading the newsflash every day. Trying to translate these feelings into risky body actions.
Fake is fabulous inc. (Jürgen Bogle) is a performance artist and theoretician from Germany and Switzerland. He works and lives now in Turku, Finland. His work was shown in Germany, Switzerland and Greece. In his approach he is often searching a political body and/or habit.
Hannah Maria Ouramo (Gullichsen): THE RISK OF TRYING TO THINK STRAIGHT
The risk of trying to think straight is a masquerade. The risk of trying to think straight is the packaging around fresh vegetables, that invisible trash, the thing I have to throw away.
Hannah Maria Ouramo makes performances to explore questions of identity, transformation, nature and biopolitics through durations, spaces, aesthetics and relations that are quiet, invisible or erased from public discourse. The starting point of her works often revolve around questions related to plastic, accessibility and non-normative systems of governance.
Tomasz Szrama: Is it my performance?
Tomasz: Dear Leena, could you tell shortly, what was the reason, that I’m chosen for the event which deal with risk in performance art?
Leena: I’ve seen quite a few of your works, and also have had a chance to make a performance collaboration with you some years ago, and I think there is always the feeling of risk involved in your performances. Your performances happen very much “in the moment” and they are playful, sometimes more in the sense of dark play and sometimes they are just funny, you never know beforehand!
Tomasz Szrama lives and works in Helsinki. He shifts between multiple disciplines, including photography, video, action and other time-based works. Regardless of the medium, a dominant thread common in his work is the use of methods of performance art. He has been performing internationally in various events and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America. He has also been an active organiser of live art events and festivals.
Leena Kela: A Performance
This is a performance about how to make a performance. I will start without an idea of what to do and in the end I will make new performance. I have performed this concept twice before, in 2009 and in 2012. Now I will try it out in Mad Bar.
Leena Kela is performance artist whose work often evolves from observing everyday life and phenomena. She is currently doing her doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki. Besides working as an artist in an international context, she also curates performance art festivals and events in Finland and abroad.
