"I want to explore psychical loneliness and how it conceives a physicality of distress and how the dialogue between loneliness and stress is most elaborately articulated by the sinking sensations of a body in crisis. I wish to present how this body desires; the sexuality imagined and exercised by this body; how this body produces hope. I wish to express my concerns about this body, scraping its surface so that the scar of hopelessness once again becomes a wound which I believe to be an archival state, experienced by many, floating from one dead subject to another dying one. I believe that an anti-Vital, listless and strengthless body is a statement. It makes noise, the sound of caressing a ghost."
Blue Exhaust is Niko Hallikainen's solo work that transforms the loneliness of a tired body into choreography that moves in sound and in language. The performance claims space for a shared language, in which all the lonely are dying. The language of the performance is sleeplessness, grief and dating applications, money, speech, desires and videos, sex and sickness and incompetence, and privacy. Blue Exhaust articulates the body of stress as a picture that is a stagnant moment of music.
Niko Hallikainen is a writer and sound designer. Blue Exhaust is his first stage work. On stage Hallikainen is accompanied by Kristian Palmu's light design and a bunch of void.
