Reality Research Centre and Mad House Helsinki will explore the possibility of a merger
Reality Research Center (TTK) and Mad House Helsinki have begun exploratory work to merge into a single performing arts production house. The aim of the project is to create a strong and sustainable organisation that will support the performing arts and their creators in a versatile and long-term way. TTK and Mad House Helsinki have already done significant work in the field of performing arts, and the merger would allow them to better meet the needs of both artists and audiences.
The merger strives to preserve the strengths of both organizations and to strengthen their operational conditions in a changing arts funding landscape: the Mad House's role as a venue for a diverse and extensive annual performance program, and the Reality Research Centre's research-oriented work and its performances in venues beyond the traditional stage. One of the goals of the merger is to reduce administrative costs and allocate more money to artistic work. We also aim to strengthen common networks and find new audiences.
During the spring of 2025, the study will consult members, funders and partners of both associations, as well as examine the operational conditions and the steps of a possible merger process. The aim is to complete the study in the autumn, after which the members of both associations will decide whether to merge.
TTK and Mad House Helsinki have started to work together on an equality and diversity production. Anachronism, Schizophrenia, and the Speed of Light and Sound by Vishnu Vardhani Rajan and their team will be performed at Mad House Helsinki in May 2025.
