We are looking for a new performance space!
Mad House Helsinki is a performing arts production house and stage. We are looking for a new space suitable for a stage. The previous lease expired at the end of 2021 and we are now looking for a long-term space to showcase Finnish performance art and live art. The best space for this type of performance is a plain empty space, without any special structures (such as an auditorium or stage). The adaptability of the space is important because the performances vary in content and size.
Stage space
approx. 200 square metres of open convertible space
Capacity for 80-150 people. Space can also be limited or divided into smaller sections
Height min 3m
Possibility of ceiling suspensions either with trusses or trusses (lights, sound system, etc.)
Possibility of hanging curtains - the stage area must be fully darkened
Wooden floor or possibility to build a sprung floor
Ability to load goods sensibly (goods lift, space at ground level)
Ventilation according to public space regulations (depending on public capacity)
Two emergency exits in different directions, widths defined in the Rescue Act, depending on the number of people
Unobstructed public access to the space
Wall sockets in different parts of the room, direct electricity (electricity sufficiency)
Sound conditions (should be relatively quiet during the performances and on the other hand, the performances will emit sound)
Plus space for:
Backstage/social facilities
Accessible dressing room/roof space, toilet and shower for performers
Small kitchen, etc.
Warehouse
Technical storage with shelves in the showroom, size at least 15m^2
Plus space for dimmers (2x32A) and amplifier rack approx.2 m^2
So the minimum power current is 1x63A

Office in the same premises for about 3-4 people for work and small meetings.
(it is also possible for the office to remain in its current location at Nilsiänkatu 8)

Mad House creates a certain kind of movement of people around it, brings potential customers to services in the neighbourhood (catering, shops, etc.) and the software also spreads out from the performance space to the surrounding area, so we are primarily interested in locations where we can become part of the culture and life of the place.
